Our Turnaround program focuses on students who are chronically suspended from elementary, middle and high schools. The goal of this exciting program is to rekindle the youth’s commitment to learning and being successful in the classroom.
We strongly believe by empowering young people to finish school, mentors are improving the student’s success in the work world as adults.
Lunch Friends Program
Trailblazers is the central program of D.U.T.Y. At risk elementary school students and their mentors participate in a structures program of support. Students and their mentors also participate in an energizing retreat, followed by a seven-month structured program that includes monthly team-building sessions and group activities. The program ends with a graduation, but the mentor and youth remain together for the following five months.

Our Lunch friends program is phenomenal and works well for children from local elementary schools. Adult mentors come to school each week to have lunch with their “friend”. The program lasts for the duration of the school year and is an extremely awesome way to break social barriers they may already be facing. This program is very strategic and offer awesome techniques for utilizing their lunch period to overcome communication obstacles.
D.U.T.Y (Declared Underprivileged Troubled Youth) Mentoring Program Inc is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization providing mentoring programs for elementary, middle and high school youth in the Dekalb County Metropolitan area. Our program form partnerships with local school districts to foster a commitment to young people that will promote pro-school, friendships, strong interpersonal skills and reassert a sense of hope in the future.
